Frequently asked questions
Why does DipCDN exist?
Game developers have a lot on their plate. The more time they can focus on their actual game, project, or event, the better the end product will be. Building or integrating with an existing CDN is a major hassle that requires web, storage, and server hosting skills. There are also the logistical complications of dealing with hosts and regulations. DipCDN takes care of all of this for you, so you can get your project up and running in a matter of minutes rather than months of development and planning. We want game devs to be game devs, not devops engineers.
What is a .BEE file?
Basis Encrypted Extension — a signed, encrypted asset container used by BasisVR. BasisVR assets include things like avatars, worlds, and props.
How do I upload assets?
Sign in and drop files onto the Assets dashboard. API key uploads from your build pipeline are coming soon.
Can I use a custom domain?
Yes. Commercial plans include whitelabel CDN hosts. Configure them under Settings.
Are my assets secure?
Yes, but not by us. BEE files are secure by design, not by download restrictions. When a .BEE file is created it is encrypted with a generated password, and it can only be decrypted with that password. DipCDN does not store these passwords. While the files can technically be downloaded by anyone, they are only usable inside the BasisVR client. DipCDN applies minimal protections to discourage downloads outside of the BasisVR client, but the real security is natively built into the asset format itself.
How do I sign up?
DipCDN is currently in a pre-launch state. You can create an account instantly by using the Sign in with Steam link. Email accounts are invite-only — if you'd like an email-based account, please join our Discord and ask for one.
How do I get in touch with someone?
Please join our Discord. We're in a pre-launch state so that's the best way to get a hold of us for now.
